Mamata Banerjee moves Supreme Court against EC freeze on TMC name, symbol

Mamata Banerjee has challenged the Election Commission's decision to freeze the Trinamool Congress name and symbol. The poll panel allotted separate names and symbols to two rival factions of the party. This interim order came after a dispute between the two factions of the TMC. The Election Commission's decision followed a rebellion within the TMC legislature party. Assembly bypolls are scheduled for October 6 in Nandigram and Rejinagar.
