Donald Trump has approved the execution of Nidal Malik Hasan, convicted for the deadly 2009 Fort Hood shooting. Hasan’s execution would be the first military execution since 1961 if carried out. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth recommended the execution, and the Army will decide the timing. Hasan could delay this through legal appeals in civilian courts. He is one of four individuals currently on military death row.
