India to roll out data centre policy as concerns grow over power use

India is preparing a dedicated data centre policy to address concerns over electricity consumption and protect consumers from higher power bills, Minister of State for IT Jitin Prasada said on Wednesday. The move comes amid local protests against planned Amazon and Google projects over water, electricity and environmental concerns.
