Apr 6, 2022

New York City, New York Apr 6, 2022 (Issuewire.com) - Lara is a certified nurse-midwife currently working at Hamptons Gynecology and Obstetrics in Southampton, New York. She has a special interest in adolescent gynecological health, as well as a deep commitment to guiding women through healthy pregnancies and births. Her goal is to ensure that women of all ages feel supported, understood, and empowered in her care.

Hamptons Gynecology and Obstetrics was founded in 1971 to provide high-quality, efficient gynecological and obstetrical care to the women of the East End. At the present time, care is provided by eight doctors, three nurse practitioners, and two midwives. They maintain four offices, Southampton, Riverhead, Hampton Bays, and Center Moriches. The doctors and midwives are all on the staff of Southampton Hospital.

As a native New Yorker, Lara has been blessed to call Long Island her home. She graduated from Harvard University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and went on to the New York University Rory Meyers School of Nursing, where she completed the accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.

Subsequently, she worked as a labor and delivery nurse at NYU Langone Hospital in Manhattan for five years. During her time as an L&D nurse, she discovered her love for physiologic birth and patient-centered holistic care and returned to NYU's School of Nursing to complete her midwifery degree (CNM). She is also a certified yoga instructor in both prenatal and children's yoga.

A Registered Nurse (RN) is a nurse who has graduated from a nursing program and met the requirements outlined by a country, state, province, or similar licensing body to obtain a nursing license. RNs fulfill a variety of job duties. In addition to their primary role in treating and caring for patients, their responsibilities also include educating patients and the public about a variety of medical conditions, as well as providing emotional support and advice to the families of their patients. Other RN job functions include leadership, research, performing diagnostic tests and analyzing results, operating medical equipment, administering medications, recording patients' symptoms and medical histories, and assisting with patient rehabilitation and follow-up.

Nurse midwifery is an advanced degree nursing specialization dealing with pregnancy, labor, and postpartum concerns. As a CNM, Lara works with mothers to ensure their safety during the childbirth process, as well as the safety of their newborn child.

In the United States, a CNM is a midwife who exceeds the International Confederation of Midwives' essential competencies for a midwife and is also an advanced practice registered nurse, having completed registered nursing and midwifery education.
